Our Hospice Events

Support Groups

The bereavement coordinator conducts two grief support groups monthly for patient’s family members, their friends or any community member who has experienced a loss. Light refreshments are served and the groups provide grief support in a group setting.

1st Saturday of each month at 10am - Grief Support Group at Hospice Haven

The bereavement coordinator and our professional social work volunteers also provide 1:1 counseling services free of charge for individuals who need additional support.

Annual Children's Grief Camp

This program offered once per year and averages 50 children in need of grief support due to a recent loss. This all day program allows children to work with trained staff and volunteers through craft stations, games and activities to discuss feelings, and provides one-on-one interaction to assist children with working through their grief experience.

     Upcoming Date:  March 28, 2025 9-3pm

Designed to help children, ages 5 through 12 years, who have experienced a recent loss of a family member, a friend, or a pet; or children who are involved in a parents’ divorce, or in foster care. This event is held from 9am-3pm and is FREE to children who want to attend. Please contact the Bereavement Office at Richmond County Hospice at 910-997-4464 by March 18th if you would like your child to attend.

 


 

Light of Life Ceremony

This program is held biannually. The Light of Life Services are our way to pay tribute to the patients who have passed away by honoring their memory with a candle light service. Family members are invited to attend this program held at area churches which includes a catered dinner following the service.

Hospice Sabbath

During Hospice and Palliative Care Month every November, the 3rd Sunday is set aside as Hospice Sabbath. This is a day of remembrance for all congregations to honor those who have passed away throughout the year in their church. Richmond County Hospice offers a white rose for the church and inserts for the bulletin. Throughout Richmond County there are 50-60 churches that participate in this program.

Forever Tree

This program is held during the Christmas Season to assist with the holiday grief associated with loss. Two small services are held, one at our Richmond County Hospice campus, and the other at Anson Community Hospice campus. These are to honor or remember those who have passed away, call attention to their special life, and bring them into the holiday season. Lights can be purchased not only in memory of the deceased love ones, but also to honor someone special to them. Names are placed on a “Forever Tree” at the event and the trees remain lit throughout the holiday season. Appetizers and desserts are served for all participants.

Volunteer Awards Banquet

Our hospice matches a minimum of 5.0% of paid clinical hours with volunteer hours to assist with our mission to support our patients and our program as a whole. The volunteer hours for the 2023 were 3,113.50 hours resulting in a savings of $64,435.67. Yearly, we give back by providing an appreciation banquet for all of the volunteers as a thank you for the gift of their time, experience, and of themselves.

Salute to Veterans Event

The 1st Friday in November, Richmond County Hospice hosts a Salute to Veterans event designed to proudly honor our veterans and their sacrifice for our nation. This free event is open to the community, and includes music, speakers, demonstrations, and lunch.

Cool Cars for a Cause

Please join us for our inaugural Spring Fundraiser, Cool Cars for a Cause located on our campus.

This event is a family event that will have a car show, kids zone, food trucks and many local vendors for shopping. This event will usually take place the last Saturday of March.

It is FREE to attend.

There is a $20.00 entrance fee for your cool cars, trucks, or motorcycles. All makes and models are welcomed. Registration begins at 8am.

Taste of the Sandhills/Dancing with the Stars Fundraiser

Did you know the average Non-profit hospice relies on 11% of their operating funds to come from donations/grants/fundraising? The ability to provide benevolent care, serves as the motivation for this now annual fundraiser. This event allows us to provide care to all patients, regardless of their ability to pay.
